The Name PRODAN stands for PRODuktion von ANtriebselementen, translatable to "PRODuction of drive elements". The company gained worldwide renomé over the last 50 years as a producer of drive technology elements. Since PRODAN was founded in 1956 by Helmut Bohne, PRODAN products have been developed continually, making it natural for PRODAN's know-how to evolve and them to be known as specialists in their industry. Originally disc and slip clutches were sold to renowned companies like ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Porsche AG. The range of clutches on offer was expanded and existing types were refined, due to new mechanical engineering and transmission manufacturing technology. disc linings and corresponding friction coefficients also advanced.
